Acrylic Nails

Having a beautiful set of nails can add to a woman’s appearance.  It can also add to her self-esteem.  When your nails look polished it can be the last touch on a perfect outfit.

Acrylic nails are the most popular type of artificial nails.  They are manufactured from a combination of two materials called polymer and monomer.  This combination is specifically designed for use in artificial nails.

Acrylic nails can be placed directly overtop of the natural nail.  This is done with the use of an adhesive.

There are many nail salons that specialize in the application of acrylic nails.  If you are visiting for the first time you will probably receive a full set.  This means that you’ll have acrylic nails applied over your own nail.  Once this is done you’ll only visit the nail salon to have a touch-up done every few weeks.  Acrylic nails can break and if this happens you’ll need to visit the nail technician to have a repair done.

Acrylic nails come in different styles and colors.  Many women opt for the elegant French style nails. These are usually referred to as French manicures and involve the use of two-tones of polish, with white being near the tip.  This is a classic choice in nail color and style.

If you prefer a bright red or a pale pink you can now get acrylic nails in a wide range of shades.  These are both attractive and practical.  With this type of nail you no longer have to worry about applying polish to the nails once they are attached.

If you have nails of a length you desire already but you wish to strengthen them, there are acrylic nails for that purpose as well.  Theses are called acrylic overlays and involve applying an acrylic coating over your already existent nail.  This is a perfect choice for women who experience breaking or cracking of their natural nails.

Regardless of which type of acrylic nail you choose they do require routine maintenance.  As your natural nail begins to grow the acrylic will need to be filled in.  There will be an empty spot near the base of your nail that is empty.  A nail technician can tend to this and it’s referred to as rebalancing.  For the average woman it needs to be taken care of every two or three weeks.

Acrylic nails are a great choice for anyone who wants longer or stronger nails.  With proper care and maintenance they can give you the look you desire.
